BBL:04 Round 3 Picks

Not entirely sure it’s worth continuing with my tips after only having one correct after eight matches. Anyway, here are my tips. Probably better to not follow them.

  • Heat v Stars (Gabba) – The Heat and Stars have never met at the MCG, which doesn’t say a lot for the balance of the BBL fixture.  The Heat were disappointing in their big loss to the Thunder in Round 1, and the Stars haven’t looked close to winning in either of their matches, and they’re without KP for this match. Flip a coin, that’s what I did. It came up Heat.
  • Sixers v Scorchers (SCG) – With three wins on the trot the Sixers are making my pre-season predictions look ridiculous. The Scorchers are also travelling better than expected with a narrow loss and strong win. The men in magenta haven’t beaten the Scorchers since BBL01, even with all matches since then being played at the SCG. With the exception of last years semi-final all matches have been close. Sixers for me.
  • Renegades v Thunder (Etihad Stadium) – It was the corresponding game last year where the Thunder broke their two-and-a-bit year losing streak, just a couple of days after I wrote an article suggesting they simply had no idea how to win. Last year’s game was also at Etihad. Could the Thunder resign the Renegades to and 0-3 start in BBL04. My tips can’t get any worse, so let’s say that they can.
  • Strikers v Hurricanes (Adelaide Oval) – Last year’s clash at Bellerive was washed out, but not before a minor Hales-storm. The Hurricanes wouldn’t have been happy with their last match against the Sixers, meanwhile the Strikers will be trying to secure three consecutive wins for the first time ever. For the sake of my season-long predictions I’m tipping the Hurricanes.
