Thoughts
Have retained the core of their title winning squad from last year. They’ve lost Watson to the Heat, and Cummins to the Scorchers – but neither loss should hurt too much, as Cummins didn’t play at all last year, and neither would likely to be available for the entire tournament due to Test/ODI commitments. The same might apply to Brad Haddin, whether or not he walks back into the test side is yet to be seen – if he’s not available, that’s where Daniel Smith comes in having left the Thunder to join their inner-city neighbours.
No mention of MacGill, but the signing of Narine hints that maybe Stu won’t be back for BBL|02. There’s also still room for a second international player with Narine the only one on their list at the moment. For me they were surprise winners last year, can they do it again this year?
Grade
A Kept their core, added Narine. Still easily the stronger of the two Sydney teams, by a growing margin.
